Animal Transporter

Description

Respond to requests for animal transport service under the supervision of Companion Animal Control Officer. Securely contain and transport animals originally found ‘at large’ or ‘abandoned’, from the location they where found to the contracted animal impound facility. Complete impound process including animal exam, paperwork and photographing. As needed provide animal containment, handling and transport assistance under direct supervision of ACO during cases of animal investigations, seizure and surrender.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Extensive animal handling experience in a professional role

  • Experience reading animal behavior and adapting to ensure safety

  • Able to handle the physical and emotional aspects of animal welfare work

  • Consistent schedule of availability*

  • Outstanding communication skills, with a professional and positive manner

  • High level of adaptability with attention to detail

  • Supportive of partnerships with other organizations & law enforcement

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly identify when it is appropriate to request assistance


Additional requirements

  • Over 21 years of age

  • Regularly lift over 50lbs with high level of mobility & dexterity

  • Reliable up to date cell phone

  • Reliable vehicle, preferably a SUV, with adequate insurance policy

  • Reside in Washington County, MN, Pierce County or St. Croix County, WI

*This is a subcontracted role on an ‘as needed’ basis and the frequency of work fluctuates significantly. This position provides no employment benefits.
